Like all music, modern country has been evolving and will continue into the future. Over the past twelve years, country music has transitioned from a fiddle-based sound to a guitar-based one, and I have had many people tell me they don't like the country style played on the radio today because it's 'not country.' I guess this is true if you believe country music should only have a twangy sound like traditional country has. I agree with them in the sense that the music is not what it used to be, but this is not a bad change. Country sound is evolving, and the style today is just a new version of country music.

I really enjoy the sounds of Ronnie Milsap, Patsy Cline, and George Jones, but I also enjoy Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert and Florida Georgia Line. I definitely appreciate all country music and the individual talent that each artist possesses. So when friends or family tell me a certain song or artist is not country, I tell them this is just a new version of country, and it will continue to change in the future.
